#Insta – Inspiration
Whether you have a customer brief or you’re working on your own project, creating a mood board with fabric and paper swatches, or building up a folder on your phone or PC, can set the tone by focusing your ideas in a cohesive and informative way.
Inspiration can be found in many ways and in many forms. Emerging trends have immediate and vast social media platforms like Instagram to grow and interact with an audience. Amateur designers can hashtag pages and join in with groups. For example; #myhousethismonthpromotes ‘a daily topics’ to share throughout the month. This is a far reaching source of inspiration as well as creating a great community in its own right. On a professional level; design shows and exhibitions allow an insight into their exciting world, which we can tap into from our desk, or sofa! The interaction provides opportunities to share ideas that we have been inspired by.
#Insta – Collaboration
It gives us great pleasure to be able to build a rapport with our customers; a phone call, a chat on social media or a visit into our lovely shop is often the beginning to a long Fritz Fryer friendship! … We were delighted when Mel from @banish_the_beige_ contacted us to talk through an idea she had for her bedroom lighting. She provided a bracket and we made the light to fit it, using a long length flex in forest green, polished brass lamp holder and our lovely hand blown, ribbed Upton shade, the finished product looked fab!.. You can see this on her Instafeed….
#Trend Setting or Setting A Trend
With such an abundance of inspiration within easy reach for everyone, it’s no wonder why design schemes are becoming more assured and individual. Ideas are reinforced with the ability to be able to confidently source, bespoke, re-purpose and buy off the shelf items as we are becoming more adventurous with colour palettes and mixing up styles.
We notice the shift in trends, and love it when lighting schemes are given just as much attention as the choice of colour on the walls! Presently, we are observing a movement from the minimalist, neutral interiors to more experimental softer hues juxtaposed with darker moodier colours and vibrant prints. Accessories and soft furnishings are added to introduce accent colours into the space.
Much to our joy there is a resurgence in print, Morris & Co – Now under the umbrella of the fabulously inspiring www.stylelibrary.com have been inspired by the iconic designs of the Arts and Crafts master;William Morris, these can be seen featured on the wall, the floor and across different types of furniture, re-worked to fill a contemporary space.
#The Finer Details
Here at Fritz Fryer we regularly use flex samples to help our customers pick out the best colour for their scheme. With 22 colours to choose from it’s worth spending a little time ensuring the colour is right, and what better way to add your own personality into your light! There is also a choice of 4 metal finishes; Nickel,Antique Brass,Bronze and Polished Brass.
Polished Brass metal fittings compliment the stronger colours and patterned wallpaper that we are seeing more and more of throughout Instagram and pinterest – and featured with our lovely collaboration with Mel of @banish_the_beige_
Mel also used our lovely Upton shade in the Ribbed glass:
The Upton family of shades come in 4 sizes with the Clear, Ribbed, Skinny Ribbed, Smoked and White types of glass available up to the XL size. The bespoke XXL shade is available in the Clear. They can feature as a pendant, within a cluster and on wall light fittings. They are also very popular in our IP44 bathroom range of pendant and wall lights.
If you need inspiration for your bedroom take a look here – bedroom side lights don’t need to sit on a surface, instead hang them down low as pendants – or as Mel did, use a bespoke made bracket and entwine twistflex around it for a unique look.
