When Fritz Fryer director Simon Wallis-Smith first discovered glass artist, Alice Heaton’s work when visiting Leeds University, it was an instant ‘ah ha!’ moment.
‘I was instantly drawn to the vivid colours and her organic vision of blown sculptural pieces,’ he says. ‘There was a gap in our expanding collection of table lamps and immediately I could see the potential of working together to create a collection that championed not only coloured glass but original form and use of the medium of glass.’
The result of which has been the launch of the exclusive ‘Lucton Table Lamp Collection’ marking this unique collaboration between the ‘Lighting Specialists’ Fritz Fryer, and Alice Heaton.
A hand-patinated steel base and stem add weight to the stunning, glass options – all unique in their design. Available in three different sizes, all pieces in theLucton collection are individually made offering every customer their very own bespoke table lamp.
We also wanted to get to know the thoughts behind the glass and what inspired Alice with her gorgeous creations;
Inspired by a series of her work entitled ‘Life Within’, the Lucton Table Lamp Collection has nods to the minute marine life within our oceans, explains Alice. ‘I was captivated by how colourful this underwater world is and the movement within. Fritz Fryer saw some examples of ‘Life Within’ and contacted me about the possibility of working together, from where we collaborated on the streamline shape and the layers of colour.’
