There are many options of globe lights available, and the size you choose is really dependent on the size of the space you are looking to illuminate.
If the light is too large for your space it may look overpowering and out of place, whereas if it’s too small for your space it may look lost.
Kitchen islands typically feature three or four globe lights over them. So, when choosing a size, think about how they will be spaced over the island and if they will appear crammed in.
Before you select your globe light, first consider where it is going to be placed. Is it intended for indoor or outdoor use? Is it going to be located near a water source, such as in a bathroom?
The Hereford globe wall light is available in both IP44 and IP20 rating. All bathroom lighting should be IP44, as often the lighting will fall within zone 2.
So, if you were illuminating either side of a bathroom mirror and you wanted to do so with globe lighting, you would need to choose an IP44 rated globe light, such as our Hereford globe bathroom wall light.
If it is being placed near a larger window, a clear glass globe will help to not obstruct the view and allow light through.
If the globe light fitting is included for decorative purposes, the amount of light it offers may not be as important. Sometimes, a globe light that offers less light can create a more atmospheric feature, which is where a white glass globe could be a good choice. Whereas, in spaces such as an entrance hall, a globe light may need to be more practical and emit more light, therefore a clear glass globe may be a better choice – particularly an XXL Hereford globe lantern.
Whether you’re lining the dining table with gorgeous pendant lights, lining the bar within a restaurant or pub, or illuminating the bathroom with wall lights, we have a fantastic globe lighting collection available.
Globe wall lights are perfect for lining the walls of a kitchen, and can be a practical addition to a space that needs plenty of light to complete tasks.
Hanging globe ceiling lights are a beautiful and decorative light for a modern kitchen island, and with the ability to choose your glass type and size, you have complete control over the look and feel of your light.
For an open staircase with a double-height ceiling drop, a globe cluster pendant light is a great lighting addition. This will act as a timeless feature piece and provide gorgeous light to each floor of the staircase.
