There are a few different ways to refer to the industrial style, such as urban industrial style, warehouse industrial style and industrial chic. It is an interior design trend that takes inspiration from the old repurposed factory spaces of New York, in the 1950s and 60s.

Some key elements of this style are: exposed brick and unfinished surfaces such as concrete and stone floors, weathered wood, building systems such as exposed pipes and light fixtures. It is a utilitarian design aesthetic that is combined with worn/aged textures and fittings.

The aesthetic became widely popular in the late 2000s and continues to maintain its popularity, still being incorporated into homes and commercial spaces through features such as industrial light fixtures and exposed brick.
