THE PEDAL SYNDICATE, MONMOUTH
At the beginning of this year we were approached by the owner of The Pedal Syndicate to create some show stopping feature lighting, in conjunction with the opening of their brand new shop in Monmouth. Having already had an amazing time creating the unforgettable bespoke chandelier made of bike chains for the owner’s other company (Pedal a Bike Away) we were extremely excited at the opportunity.
THE BRIEF
The brief was to create an industrial and high end feature lighting piece, for the main room of the The Pedal Syndicate shop. Using unfinished aluminium and mountain bike parts donated by a mountain bike manufacturer, the completely unforgettable and definitely show stopping bespoke chandelier came to life.
DESIGN PROCESS
The designer of this marvelous creation, Simon Wallis-Smith, reflected on the process of creating this feature lighting piece, recalling a time of around a week to take the chandelier from first design, to finished product. Simon took from the style of the Hereford dish cluster, switching up the Hereford shades for bike wheels!
The light itself was suspended from high tensile wire, in keeping with the industrial theme of the project. Illuminating the bike wheels was achieved by fitting the inside of the rims with LED rings, which makes for a striking look.
Alongside the incredible bespoke feature piece, 3 large brushed steel Moccas line the workshop.
Designing such a unique piece is something that our team really love to do. Out of the box ideas and concepts are a brilliant way for our designers to express their creativity and show off their skills.
